Our first meeting of the new year was held on January 23 at Nelson Mullins’ offices on Capitol Hill from noon to 2 pm.
The feature topic was Federal Healthcare Policy in 2015 in Congress and the Executive Branch. We had a panel of speakers being organized and led by Jim Edwards, who is the CEO of Elite Strategic Services, that included Tina Grande of the Healthcare Leadership Council, Katherine Kramer with Senate HELP Committee and James Paluskiewicz with Congressman Michael Burgess’ office. We discussed the leadership changes on Capitol Hill, the need for many fixes to the Affordable Care Act, sweeping proposals focusing on 21st Century Healthcare, and proposals to enhance the use of technology in all facets of healthcare. We discussed whether 2015 can be a productive year prior to the start of the 2016 Presidential campaigns and what the key issues and potential activities will be.
