Our March Health TechNet meeting addressed to questions regarding data: "How can data be translated into useful information?" and "What do we do now with all this data?"
The meeting featured the presentations of Dave Vickers, Director of Performance Improvement at Virginia Hospital Center and Michael Zuschin, Director in Cleveland Clinic's Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) Program. Mr. Vickers provided us with an overview of the steps VHC is taking to exploit their newly deployed Soarian Information System with actionable information and reporting. Mr. Zuschin provided us with an overview of the implementation of the EBI Program which is collaboratively governed by Finance, Medical Operations, and IT.
There was also a presentation by Linda Kotis of Pillsbury law summarizing the newly issued regulations on Health Insurance Exchanges.
The presentations of the speakers were followed by an active discussion among our members.
