The primary topic of our June meeting was the rapidly growing field of medical robotics and medical automation. We learned about exciting progress in academic, medical and industrial applications, including innovative approaches to automating clinical services, drug discovery, genomics, biorepository, and biochemical processes. We were benefited by a live demonstration of In TouchHealth, a California robotics firm that has placements of patient care robotics in a number of hospitals across the country.
We also discussed the status of the implementation of the VISTA electronic medical records system in the private sector, and on the status of HIEs (formerly RHIOs).
Finally, announcements of the topics of upcoming Health TechNet meetings for the rest of the calendar year were provided.
