Our July Health TechNet meeting focused on Pandemic Flu, SARS, and other Biothreats: Perspectives from the Front Lines of Public Health professionals, physicians, and researchers, with and added perspective of looking at shorter and longer term threats. The meeting featured the presentations of David Goodfriend, M.D.,M.P.H., Director of the Loudoun County VA Public Health Department, and Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine; and Gary Klein, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., CMIO of DHS’s Department of Immigration Services and Chairman, Board of Directors and Government Affairs Liaison, American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine (AAUCM), and President Elect, American Academy of Disaster Medicine (AADM). They described recent developments and technological challenges in preparation for pandemic flu and the risk of these and other biological threats.
David Main of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman also delivered an update of various Congressional and Administration priorities in the current climate.
