9/18/20  Back

Our September 18 meeting of HealthTechNet, which was a Zoom call focused on “The Potential Effects of the November Elections on Healthcare Policy, Legislation, and Regulation.”

During this session, we discussed the potential effects of the national and state-level elections on the future of such key areas as the Affordable Care Act, privacy protections and requirements, data security, telehealth, coronavirus control and recovery, and many others. The discussion was led by a panel of speakers, including Deanne Kasim, Executive Director, Health Policy, Change Healthcare; Angela Evatt, Senior Manager, State Health Policy, Change Healthcare; Jennifer Pharaoh, Partner in Nelson Mullins’ Government Relations Group, and David Main, Partner in Nelson Mullins’ Healthcare Practice Group. It was a vibrant discussion of various scenarios depending on who is elected President, potential changes in state and federal officials overseeing legislation and regulatory agencies, potential changes in the makeup of Congress, and similar changes at the state level.
