Our October Health TechNet meeting focused on lessons from the Airline Industry on healthcare safety and avoiding medical errors.
The meeting featured the presentation of Christopher Hart, Deputy Director for Air Traffic Safety Oversight at the Federal Aviation Administration. Mr. Hart provided us with an overview on how airline safety regimens can be translated into similar improvements in the healthcare industry.
The presentation was followed by an active discussion, including the pay -for performance environment, in the wake of the October 1 effective date of new CMS regulations on non-reimbursement for "never events", as well as other matters of interest to the Washington area technology community.
