Our November meeting of Health TechNet was held on Friday, November 15 from noon to 2 pm at Nelson Mullins’ offices in Washington, D.C. The feature topic was new techniques for improving the design and use of healthcare information technology as a tool for patent-provider interactions, and how human factors engineering can improve how HIT can be used to get the right data to providers at the point of care and improve healthcare results.
Our primary speaker was Dr. Kristen Miller, who is the Scientific Director of the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare at MedStar Health. She is also Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University, and holds several other academic posts relating to human factors engineering, informatics, and patient safety. Thanks to Dr. Joseph Bormel for arranging this program and leading the discussion.
