Our November Health TechNet meeting was held on Friday, November 18, from noon to 2 pm at TeqCorner in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.
The feature topic was a discussion of recent developments in the field of Personalized Medicine, with a special emphasis on precision treatments tailored to a patient’s genomic characteristics. We had a panel of speakers from this fascinating and growing industry, led by Dr. Subha Madhaven of Perthera in McLean, Virginia. Perthera guides advanced-stage cancer patients and their physicians to the best-in-class personalized cancer treatment options available by bridging the gap between molecular testing and patient therapy. Also Dave Klein of Vibrent Health presented his thoughts and observations. We discussed the related topic of the new joint venture between Inova and the University of Virginia for research on personalized medicine and cancer treatment. David Main also gave a presentation on the various effects of the recent elections on federal healthcare policy.
