Our December Health TechNet meeting focused on the uses of healthcare technology in long-term care and issues relating to patient monitoring, potential uses and applications of sophisticated technology, and the like.
The meeting featured the presentations of Andy Masetti from Sentient Medical Systems and Angie Falletti from Siemens. Mr. Masetti provided us with an overview on intra-operative monitoring of neurosurgery patients, a telemedicine application which helps reduce severe complications of surgery, while Ms. Falletti provided us with an overview of technology trends in Long Term Care.
There was also a viewing of a recent NBC Nightly News broadcast on fraud and abuse trends under the Medicare program. This resulted in a lively discussion on the problem, causes, and potential solutions.
