Our December Health TechNet meeting featured a discussion of the state of capital financing currently available to health care technology companies, particularly in the Washington metropolitan area. This is a subject we revisit annually, as it is always a popular-- and important-- subject to us all.
This year were fortunate to have April Young leading the discussion. Dr. Young is widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities in the field on this subject and has helped numerous technology companies obtain financing and create business structures for success. April is SVP & Managing Director of Comerica Bank’s Mid-Atlantic Technology and Life Sciences Division. In that role, she is responsible for developing and managing the bank’s portfolio of technology and life science company clients in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast from Reston, Virginia.
Joining April were several other speakers familiar with current financing trends, including Henry O'Connor, who is a principal at ORIX Venture Finance, and head of their Northern Virginia Office. Henry is deploying debt capital in mid- to late-stage venture-backed companies in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern U.S. ORIX’s Venture Finance effort has made approximately $200MM in senior debt investments in over 25 companies.
