Our December 16th meeting of Health TechNet was held at Nelson Mullins’ offices in Washington, D.C.
The feature topic was a discussion of the current activities of several Innovation Centers that assist in the development of new products and companies that contribute to improved delivery and quality of care, largely through creative new technologies. We had three primary speakers who led the discussion and briefed us on the activities of their organization’s innovation activities: 1) Pete Celano, Director, Consumer Health Initiatives at MedStar Health, 2) Beth Bortz, President and CEO of The Virginia Center for Health Innovation in Richmond, and 3) representatives of Inova Health System describing its innovation investment initiative and personalized/precision accelerator in development.
We also had a presentation by David Quam, a partner in the government relations practice at Nelson Mullins, who gave his impressions about the evolving effects of the recent elections on Federal health policy.
