Genomics and Personalized Medicine
Our December meeting was held on Friday, December 18, from noon to 2 pm at Nelson Mullins’ offices in Washington, D.C. The feature topic was a discussion of genomics and personalized medicine, and the importance of Inova’s Translational Medicine Institute (ITMI) and the Inova Center for Personalized Health (ICPH) to growing these capabilities in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Douglas Goldstein, who is helping with business development for ICPH, facilitated the discussion and was joined by Brian Hays and other representatives of those organizations to discuss their plans for the future and their use of the former Exxon Mobile campus in Fairfax, which was recently acquired by Inova. Also speaking was Dr. Robin Baker, President of Fairfax Neonatal Associates, which is performing investigational research and data analysis for ITMI in connection with the causes of premature births.
